Based
on medical experience and direct research conducted
with the aid of pediatricians and psychologists, the
research stage investigated the fascinating world of
prenatal existence from 0 to 9 months; attention was
turned to the emotions, fears and the necessity for
the expectant mothers peace of mind, the sensorial
perceptions of the child in the womb, the birth experience,
the first months of the new-born infants life
and its subsequent development.
The numerous direct experiences and the research carried
out allowed important elements to be collected together
to create the most appropriate sound collages for each
of the stages considered.
While
researching the project some fundamentally important
aspects emerged regarding the babys abilities
to perceive external sound from within the womb, to
gain benefit from the mothers positive emotions
and, above all, the capacity to associate such pleasant
sensations with the presence of sound stimuli. In short,
by getting mother used to relaxing with a certain type
of music, the child will perceive the same sensation
of well being and associate the sensation with music.
Once it has come into the world the new-born child will
then be able to recognise the same quality of music
and relax instinctively on the basis of a natural association
process.
This
and numerous other elements have also shown the infants
level of response to different sound stimuli, allowing
the most suitable sounds and musical situations to be
identified for the various developmental stages. The
importance of the childs serenity in the prenatal
stage and the new-born babys first positive experiences
are the basis for healthy and natural development.
The research then went on to look into the first months
of life, with a study of the new-born childs needs,
discovery and perception of the outside world through
objects and play, a world in which stimuli become elements
indispensable to development.
